Fall is Here, Louisville
Prepare windows now to save yourself money and comfort later
by MIKE HALL Owner/Agent/Broker
The first days of fall have officially arrived in Louisville. The recent rain pushed leaves to begin their transformation from our lush Kentucky green to warm golds, ambers, bright tangerine and ruby red.
Along with the beautiful sights come breezy days and chilly nights. Right now the weather is perfect for leaving your windows open. Invest in some reusable window screens found at Home Depot, Lowe's or Wal Mart (you'll be pulling them out of storage again this coming spring.) Keeping your AC from running will help our environment as well as blunt the blow of those higher energy bills this winter. But don't let this temperate weather fool you. Winter will be here before we know it, and you don't want that to sneak into your home!
Check those windows. On a cool night, with the windows sealed shut, feel to see if any are a bit drafty. They may be in need of some simple caulk, or even replacing. Now would be the time for any fixing. Imagine in a few months the only thing separating you from 20-degree weather a piece of plastic. Ready to add even more stress to your holiday season by uprooting the family for a few days packed-in at grandma's? Didn't think so. Prepare now to keep frost from forming on the inside of your windows this winter.
